Born and raised in Toronto, Masae Seki has been drawing her whole life and knew she wanted to be in a career related to art. So after graduating high school she attended University for Interior Design. At the time she wasn't aware of the animation industry or the fact there were colleges that taught about it. Until one day, someone mentioned to her about Sheridan College's Animation Program. She knew right away this was her true calling. Without hesitation, Masae left University to attend Sheridan's Animation Program to pursue her new dream.
Masae currently works at Imaginism Studios, where she collaborates on projects with Bobby Chiu and Kei Acedera. Masae has illustrated numerous books for Disney, including Vampirina. Her latest art book, KIN celebrates the theme of family and how it comes in all shapes and sizes. Her lavish paintings of critters captures the heart and mind in such a wonderful way.
Masae's most recent project is on the new Netflix film, "The Christmas Chronicles" (2018) produced by Chris Columbus and directed by Clay Kaytis. Alongside Bobby Chiu, Masae designed the elves seen in the movie. When Masae isn't painting, she's rock climbing or doing something else just as difficult. She's always looking for her next challenge.
